About Q1 Tower

Q1 stands for Queensland Number One, a name which it deserves. Designed by Atelier SDG, during the Sydney 2000 Olympics, the shape of the building was inspired by the torch used for those games, which itself was inspired by the Sydney Opera House. This stunning building took 2.5 million man hours, 3 years and around 255 million dollars to be opened officially on the 26th of October 2005.

Floors 77 and 78 of 85 contain SkyPoint, Australia's only Observation Deck beside the beach. Able to fit 400 people, the 230 metre high viewing area offers spectacular 360 degree views of the Pacific Ocean, Brisbane in the north, the Gold Coast Hinterland in the west and Byron Bay in the south.

Recognised as one of Queensland's iconic landmarks, Q1 Tower briefly held the record for the world's tallest residential tower. The 332.5 metre skyscraper, measured to the top of its spire, is still the tallest building in Australia and The Southern Hemisphere. Ranked as the 5th tallest residential building and the 27th tallest building overall in the world, however you rate it, Q1 dominates the Gold Coast high rise skyline.
