By car from Cairns, head northwards to Daintree Village via the Cook Highway and the Daintree is approximately 110km. There are coach and bus transfers from Cairns, Port Douglas and Cooktown as well as many organised tours or you can rent a vehicle and self drive. Cairns Airport services domestic and international flights with light plane and helicopter tours to Cape Tribulation. Be sure to check travel information as some roads can become impassable in the wet Australian summer.

About The Daintree Rainforest
Set in Far North Queensland the Daintree Rainforest is Australia's largest continuous tropical rainforest. Covering an area of around 2600km square which is approximately 762 times bigger than New York's Central Park. This is one Australian landmark you do not want to get lost in. Set in the Tropics of North Queensland between Mossman Gorge and the Bloomfield river the forest encompasses the Daintree National Park as well some privately owned land and other state forests.
It was heritage listed in 1988 and is one of the only places in Australia where the rainforest opens from the mountains to white sandy beaches. The Forest is home to endangered species like the Southern Cassowary and the Bennett's tree kangaroo as well as one third of Australian frog, reptile and marsupial species and two thirds of the bat and butterfly species. Combine this with many plants that were around on the 500 million year old continent Gondwana and consider that the Daintree forest only covers 0.2% of the Australian landmass and it's obvious this is one of the most important natural sites in not only Australia but in the entire world.
Camping is available at both the Daintree National Park (Noah Creek) and Cape Tribulation however it is subject to rainfall and you are best to contact local tour operators in advance. Camp grounds can be reached by standard vehicles and boats however due to low tree canopy in some areas and tight turning tracks it is not accessible for caravans, high camper vans or buses. Taking your own drinking water, is a must, open fires are not permitted and don't forget the aerogard (Insect Repellent).
