About The Barossa Valley

The Barossa Valley is regarded as Australia's wine capital and features over eighty cellar doors all within two hours drive from Adelaide. Luxury resorts and cellars offer award-winning wine and gourmet food amongst an inspiring landscape. The rolling hills and valleys of the Barossa are a perfect place to indulge yourself or escape for that romantic getaway. The area, not just for the connoisseurs, is family friendly with events such as the Para Road Wine Path, with its wine, food and entertainment for all.

Cool in winter and wet in summer, the Barossa is perfectly suited to the production of Shiraz and Cabernet wines, though the nearby Eden Valley, with its high altitudes, produces excellent Riesling and Chardonnay, if white wines are more your style. If you decide to pick up a few bottles, many sellers offer specialist transport for your selections.

If you can make it past the exquisite wines and mouthwatering locally produced dishes, the Barossa is home to many events and festivals including the Barossa Film Festival in October, the Santos cycling tour, the largest in the Southern Hemisphere, the Barossa Cup Horse Race and much more. Another favourite is to visit the Barossa Valley Reservoir and try whispering to friends at the other end.
