Around 90km directly south of Darwin, the state capitol of the Northern Territory, near Adelaide River, lies Litchfield National Park. Of the parks many attractions, Florence Falls are one of the most popular places to visit due to their accessibility and being a great place for a swim. The roads into the park are sealed bitumen allowing for year round access even if 4WD tracks are closed due to the wet season. About Florence Falls
At the double plunge waterfall of Florence Falls there are two wheelchair accessible easy grade bushwalks. One leads to a viewing platform above the falls and the other takes you on gentle stroll along the creek. If that isn't enough time at the falls for you camping is allowed with showers and toilets provided. Florence Falls are a spectacular landmark but are only the beginning at Litchfield National Park.
The result of eons of erosion into the sandstone plateau of the Table Top Range, there are several other beautiful falls to check out such as Wangi Falls, Tolmer Falls, Tjaynera Falls (Sandy Creek) and Surprise Creek Falls, all of which you are able to take a refreshing swim in. Another waterfall in one of the smaller systems is Tjaetaba Falls but these are a sacred Aboriginal site and visitors are requested not swim in them. Buley Rockhole, a series of cascading plunge pools are also popular for a quick dip.
